KOURA – ZGHORTA IRRIGATION PROJECT
LEBANON | Project Value: 50 M$ | Type of Services: Control of design | 1973-1975
(Design carried out in association with the Italian consultants ELC and STIPE). This project comprises:
- Storage dam : rockfill dam height 75m, storage capacity 50 million cu.m.
- Diversion structures comprise : an intake dam 8m high, a diversion tunnel 3.75 Km long having an internal diameter of 2.3m followed with a rectangular canal (2.25 x 2.25m) 1.6 Km long.
- The irrigation and drainage network for an area of 8,000ha (approximately) principally composed of :
• Intake structure and supply tunnel, length 4.1 Km, internal diameter 2.3m,
• Primary and secondary supply mains diameters varying between 300mm and 1,000mm. Length 53 Km,
• Several break heads, two pumping stations and three regulating reservoirs.
